Knowing the future challenges in the broadcast industry, our client Asharq TV (Bloomberg Arabia) were keen to adopt state-of-the-art technologies in their new studios in Dubai. “It has been two years in the making, but Asharq News, owned by Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG), finally went on air in November 2020, boasting one of the finest IP facilities not just across MENA but globally. With a special emphasis on business and an exclusive content agreement with Bloomberg, as well as the aim to reach out to a younger audience, Asharq seems poised to cater to the information needs of a generation of digital natives.” (Vijaya, Broadcast Pro)

Based on their previous practical experience with Barco products and ITV’s technical expertise, Asharq requested our feedback and recommendations on the backdrop technologies for the new studio project.

The unique design concept Asharq selected was a combination between moving and static displays. The precision of the implementation of the display backdrop was the decisive factor for the success of making the design concept a reality. In addition, Barco has to customize their product to meet the no-gap 90 degrees angled display requirement.

The high-level detailed engineering solution and coordinated project management between Barco, Intertech and Qvest during all project phases led to a successful materializing of the design matching with client expectation. Asharq time frame for implementing the project was another challenge, and we had to work 24 hours a day to meet the deadline.

Due to the success of the project and the International recognition of the state-of-the-art studio, Asharq assigned Intertech to execute other studio projects in the region. We are very proud of the outcome of our cooperation with Asharq and highly value their trust in our organization.
